Staying consistent with exercise can be hard to do sometimes. If you have a busy week at work, lose motivation, skip a day because you don’t feel like it, not seeing any progress, there are many reasons why people may not workout or skip a few days of exercise. But here are a few tips that can help:

1.Be Clear With Your “WHY?â€

Why did you start exercising in the first place? Going back and thinking about the reason you started can help keep you going. Everyone has a different reason for why they workout.

  • You wanted to help your overall health

  • You had an injury

  • You wanted to lose weight

I started to workout because I had an unhealthy relationship with food. Working out has helped me to gain weight and confidence.

2. Track Your Progress

Tracking your progress can be really fun. Being able to see how much your body has changed or how much weight you can lift is a great feeling. There are many different ways that you can track your progress

  • Write it down in your calendar that you worked out that day

  • Create an excel page

  • Write it on a post it note

Tracking your progress can be really satisfying too. Say when you first started exercising you were only able to lift ‘X’ amount of weight and now you’re lifting ‘X’ or you were only able to run for ‘X’ amount of time without stopping and now you can run ‘X.’

3. Have A Workout Buddy

Having someone to go to the gym with can help a lot. If you’re always going by yourself it can be easy to not go sometimes. You might have a friend or family member who is struggling to be consistent too. When you go to the gym with someone you’re able to hold each other accountable. Schedule a few times a week to go with each other and see if that helps with consistency.

4. Sign Up

Sign up for something and put it in your calendar. Sign up for a class, a race, or a competition. You can look up races or other events that are going on in your town or somewhere close by. Train for something that you would enjoy doing; 5K race, CrossFit comp, Spartan Race. Signing up is the easy part to do but training for it should be fun and something you should look forward to.

5. Ask For Help

If you still think you are struggling and nothing is working, it’s okay to ask for help. There are trainers at the gym for a reason and there is nothing wrong with talking to them. Trainers are there to help!
