Do you find yourself struggling to consistently make it into the gym? If you answered yes to this, donât worry, youâre not alone. No matter how dedicated and driven you are, everyone struggles at some point in their fitness journey with this issue. Being accountable and getting to the gym to get that workout in even when youâre really not feeling it that day is one of the most common hurdles to overcome when it comes to developing good training habits.
Luckily, there is a great solution to this that will not only hold you accountable but will also include other positive benefits such as improving form, greater motivation and drive, and (possibly/hopefully/maybe) making some new friends along the way. What Iâm talking about is the benefits of group training!
INFLUENCE
Being in a group setting with an instructor that can help push you, as well as like-minded individuals that will provide motivation to get better and better is one of the biggest keys to success and staying consistent. Being the new person in a class can always be a little intimidating, but remember everyone has started where you are at one point. Instead of being discouraged about not being the fittest or fastest or strongest in the group, use their success as motivation and get that drive to get those results for yourself!
GROUP DYNAMIC
Oftentimes, the biggest hurdle to coming in to get a workout in is stressing out knowing how hard and challenging the workout will be, and quitting before you even start. Being part of a group will not only help you push through this, but knowing that youâre not going through it alone can be that mental nudge you need to overcome any objections and reluctance to get it done. Itâs a lot easier to push yourself to do something challenging if you know youâre not suffering through it alone.
SPICE IT UP
Another very common issue that causes people to fall off the wagon when it comes to making it in consistently is boredom. Getting tired of doing the same lifts or type of workout is very common and even the most devout workout enthusiasts will get bored eventually. Group training can provide that variety you need to stay on track! Not only that but you donât have to think or plan out a workout for yourself, the trainer or coach, or workout buddy will guide you through it so all you have to do is show up and put in the work!
COMPETITION
Finally, for those on the more competitive side, nothing is better for motivation than seeing how you stack up against someone else! If you find yourself falling off or slacking in your workouts lately, maybe some healthy competition is what you need to get that drive back! Whether itâs finishing the workout first in the shortest amount of time, or keeping up with people that are âfitterâ or younger than you are can give a great sense of satisfaction and accomplishment and help continue grinding away until you reach your fitness goals!
If any of these sound like problems youâve been experiencing lately, or if you typically worked out alone and youâre curious about seeing what a workout is like with others then please stop by the front desk or ask a trainer about our Group Fitness Classes, Small Group Training, and Semi-Private Training options!
